This week, the 2nd year chef's are focusing on baking. this includes doughs, batters, pastries. Up till today, We baked some bread rolls that were filled with some savoury foods. Some mushroom, ham spices and onions were used. the rolls turned out to be a success.
We attempted to make scones and muffins which didn't turn out 100% correct, but were still nice to taste. We were taught how to read and write down the recipes.
Every night at the brown hyena's boys house, I sit down with any of the boy chef's and we go through their work logs together to make sure they understand what they have done and what was needed and is still needed of them.
On Wednesday, Chef natalie and i made a malva pudding for lunch for the students. It turned out really nice, but we still needed some help with our techniques. These techniques were taught to us today, thursday the 3rd of march. Chef Edward trained us a bit in the training kitchen. He taught us a vital lesson today, because we just started doing our own thing without following his instructions properly. We only read half of the instructions on the packet, of sago pudding. We were taught how to do full mise on place for a recipe when baking.
